Parabola Arts Foundation

Executive Director, 1989 to 1991

The Parabola Arts Foundation sponsored multimedia artists, filmmakers, video artists, musicians, painters, writers, and sculptors. As Director, I acted as a liaison between artists and federal, state, and private funding organizations. I worked with artists as their projects developed and provided additional support for public exhibitions, film screenings, and concerts.

Other responsibilities included the development and implementation of new programs, such as touring exhibitions of audio and video installations (in conjunction with the Gallery Association of New York State); the establishment of an Art & Technology Resource File; and writing, editing, and producing a nationally distributed newsletter.

Curator and Advisory Board Member, 1990 to 1991

The foundation invited me to curate a large group exhibition of technological art entitled P.U.L.S.E. (People Using Light, Sound, Energy) 3 with accompanying catalogue, CD-ROM, and videotape.

 
  Alternative Museum (Alternative Center for International Arts)
 
 

Assistant Director / Associate Curator, 1987 to 1989

The Alternative Museum was the first artist-founded and artist-operated museum in the U.S. In addition, I developed and presented a series of art and technology exhibitions that included computerized light and sound, holography, video installations, audio installations, and other media. Catalogues are available on request.

Alternative Museum, New York, NY, 1983 to 1987
